WM mask derived from FOD

Hi,

I’m using an old diffusion dataset (+B0), I derived the response function using dhollander, then with the WM and CSF response functions I calculated the FODs and finally I use mtnormalise with the obtained FODs.

I want to run tractography in this dataset and I don’t have any structural data, my question is: is it possible from the WM FOD derive a WM mask? I tried thresholding the FA but is neonatal data, so the obtained mask is not really good. Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Manuel

This is really tricky… It’s already hard enough to get a half-decent segmentation from structural images in neonates, but I can’t think of any way to do this from the diffusion data themselves – the GM often looks more like WM than the bulk of the superficial WM, the contrast is all over the place. I’m afraid I don’t have any useful suggestions here…

Hi,

Thanks! seems like I will have to stick to some thresholding of the FA, I’ll let you know if I find something better.

Best regards,

Manuel
